The majority of Minor League baseball teams would settle for celebrating Hot Dog Night at the ballpark with a visit from world champion Joey Chestnut, but the High-A Bowling Green Hot Rods are not like most teams. Not only will the Hot Rods host the 16-time winner of the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest, they will also change their name – or at least half of it – and wear alternate uniforms to honor their Hot Dogs promotion on July 13.
The logo features the head of a real dog rather than the food, with a label that resembles a hot dog. The two-tone cap is yellow and red, symbolizing mustard and – controversially – ketchup.
Game-worn jerseys of the Bowling Green Hot Dogs (which we have yet to see) will be auctioned off to benefit the Center for Courageous Kids.
