The Triple-A baseball team, formerly known as the Oklahoma City Dodgers, announced today that it will be rebranding for the 2025 season. The announcement came with the unveiling of a series of preliminary logos to be used for the 2024 season, as well as the decision to drop the existing name in favor of the generic moniker „Oklahoma City Baseball Club“ for one year.

The OKC franchise has been known as the Dodgers since 2015 when it was purchased by the Los Angeles Dodgers. One of the primary reasons for the decision to use a generic brand in 2024 instead of sticking with the existing Dodgers name for one final season is that the team is no longer owned by the Major League club. The franchise was sold to Diamond Baseball Holdings in 2021.

The preliminary branding for 2024 includes a blend of versions of the team’s latest logos as well as a nod to the 89ers, who played from 1962 to 1997. The team will play as the 89ers in 2024 on Thursdays. (Notably missing from the temporary logo set is any reference to the Oklahoma City RedHawks, who played from 1998 to 2008.)

The team’s jersey collection includes home jerseys in white, road grey, and blue alternate jerseys, as well as an alternate 89ers jersey and a „City“ logo featuring the script „Oklahoma City“ in Brush Script font.

The hat collection is highlighted by a three-colored 89ers cap with a figure in a pillbox hat.

With the renaming of the Rome Braves and the Oklahoma City Dodgers, the number of affiliated Minor League Baseball clubs named after their parent club now stands at 12, accounting for just 10 percent of all teams.
