Carolina Disco Turkeys spielen als Camel City Humps – SportsLogos.Net News

The city of Winston-Salem in North Carolina is known as „Camel City“ because it has been home to the RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company since 1875, manufacturing Camel brand cigarettes. Winston-Salem is also home to the Carolina Disco Turkeys at the college summer level, who will be adding a new twist to the nickname Camel City this season by playing as the Camel City Humps on selected Wednesdays – yes, Hump Days.

The logo features a single-humped dromedary throwing a baseball from a pitcher’s mound, with an anatomical detail that Disco Turkeys fans may find familiar.

According to the team, „locals will notice that the camel’s hump also resembles Pilot Mountain, a prominent peak in the Winston-Salem area skyline.“

The unveiling of the Humps logo and uniforms comes just weeks after the team made waves with their alternative brand, the Yacht Rockers, which is either a parody or homage to Cleveland’s Chief Wahoo, depending on who you ask.

The Camel City Humps will take the field on May 29th and July 17th.
