Paris Saint-Germain, a longtime French Ligue 1 contender, has drawn inspiration from the vibrant urban art scene in its city for its 2024-25 home kits.
The jerseys, manufactured by Nike, were unveiled on Friday, May 10, on PSG’s website and social media channels. The PSG women’s team will debut them on the field on Saturday, May 11, in the D1 Arkana semi-final playoff against Paris FC, while the men’s team will wear them on Sunday, May 12, when they host Toulouse in their final home match of the 2023/24 Ligue 1 season.
The base of the jersey is a solid dark blue, and the club’s traditional Hechter stripe—a wide red vertical stripe with white border—returns to the center of the jersey. However, this time it is „reinterpreted with a fluid and dynamic brushstroke style,“ as stated on the PSG website. „This fresh variation of a classic pattern embodies the bold and innovative identity of Paris Saint-Germain, a club that represents the new generation.“
The socks and shorts matching the shirt are also solid dark blue with minimal embellishments.
The unveiling of PSG’s home kits also gave us a first glimpse of the new name and number font for Ligue 1. In March 2024, the league introduced a new logo that can be seen in red at the bottom of the numbers. The font for the PSG name is white with a red outline, while the numbers are white with red brushstroke accents resembling a light grey map of Paris.
We will have to wait for more Ligue 1 kit unveilings to see how many elements of the name and number fonts will be transferred to other clubs.
PSG recently secured their 12th Ligue 1 championship. They currently lead with a nine-point gap over AS Monaco, with Monaco having only two games left in the season.
