Vince McMahon has already faced a bombshell of sexual assault and human trafficking allegations. He is also accused of covering up the alleged rape of one of his former female talents – who later died by suicide – and sexually harassing her.
According to VICE News, John Laurinitis, the former head of Talent Relations and co-defendant in the lawsuit brought by former WWE employee Janel Grant, was also involved.
Laurinitis and the „top management“ of WWE were aware of the allegations – Massaro stated in a sworn affidavit released after her death in 2019 that she was injected with a paralyzing drug and raped by a man claiming to be a doctor on a military base in Kuwait while WWE was on tour there in 2006. Laurinitis‘ attorney objected to the term „cover-up.“
WWE previously claimed that its executives were unaware of Massaro’s allegations.
„He told me not to let a bad experience ruin the good work they were doing,“ said Massaro, according to VICE News, in the sworn affidavit about McMahon.
The Naval Criminal Intelligence Service initiated an investigation into the alleged rape in June 2019 but discontinued it a few months later, reported VICE News.
Massaro’s lawyer Konstantine Kryos has claimed that Massaro’s WWE career was terminated when she refuted McMahon’s advances. Her ex-boyfriend, former WWE wrestler Paul London, also stated on the Café de Rene with Rene Dupree podcast that Massaro was a victim of McMahon’s sexual misconduct.
„And so that’s the way I understood it from Ashley, and I think that’s common knowledge to anyone who’s remotely familiar with the intricacies of WWE,“ Kryos further said on the Banfield podcast from NewsNation last week. „I believe, I believe the allegations were that Mr. McMahon himself was frequently seen kissing the Divas in their rooms, etc., and that her fate was similar to many other wrestlers when she rejected his advances, which would end her career, and that’s essentially what happened.“
McMahon has resigned from TKO, the parent company of WWE. Both he and Laurinitis deny the allegations in Grant’s lawsuit.
