The Reading Royals of the ECHL showed their patriotism on their sleeves – and the rest of their upper body – with a special edition jersey they wore on Saturday.
For their home game against the Worcester Railers on Saturday, December 30, the Royals wore special edition Team USA jerseys as they celebrated Team USA Night at Santander Arena.
The jerseys were white with „USA“ in arched blue letters and a red outline on the front. A waving, worn American flag adorned the waist on both the front and back.
A thick blue stripe with white stars ran around each sleeve, flanked by two thinner red stripes. The shoulder yokes were solid blue with a red outline, and on each shoulder was the Royals‘ main logo – recolored in red, white, and blue. „We The People“ is printed in light gray directly below each sleeve stripe.
The numbers on the sleeves, in black, were blue with white and red outlines, while the name on the back was in white block letters on a contrasting blue nameplate. The jerseys were paired with the Royals‘ usual black helmets, pants, and gloves, and their usual white socks with a purple stripe and white trim.
The jerseys may have given the Royals the necessary boost on Saturday night, as they defeated Worcester in overtime with a score of 4-3.
Game-worn Team USA Night jerseys are available for auction until Sunday, December 31, 9:00 PM ET. Replica versions are available through The Royals‘ online shop.
