St. John’s men’s basketball program will debut retro jerseys from the 1994-95 season in their game against Marquette at 12:00PM ET on FOX this Saturday.
The uniforms are inspired by what the Red Storm wore in their first season after changing their nickname from the Redmen, but are not exact replicas.
This includes the arched „St. John’s“ lettering on the chest and a classic stripe pattern in red, yellow, and navy around the collar and armholes.
However, the most notable difference is the absence of a New York City skyline at the bottom of the shorts, as only one skyscraper remains as part of the asymmetrical design.
The uniform is completed by „Thunder,“ a red horse with lightning accents, which served as the first mascot of the Red Storm, on the left leg of the shorts along with a team lettering.
In addition to the retro jerseys, St. John’s will also unveil a new court design before Saturday’s game at Madison Square Garden, paying homage to its original visual identity.
