The Double-A Binghamton Rumble Ponies will honor one of their hometown’s favorite sons, Twilight Zone creator Rod Serling, with an alternate identity based on the show. For a game this summer, the team will play as the Creatures, featuring a logo inspired by a Twilight Zone episode titled „Nightmare at 20,000 Feet,“ where a gremlin terrorizes a passenger by tearing apart the wing of an airplane mid-flight.

Serling was born in 1924 in nearby Syracuse but moved to Binghamton at the age of two and spent most of his youth there. „Twilight Zone“ became one of the most iconic TV shows of all time, running from 1959 to 1964 with 156 episodes over five seasons.

The identity eschews the bright colors often associated with Minor League Baseball and instead opts for a grayscale palette reminiscent of mid-20th century black-and-white television.

The team announced the rebrand in the offseason, drawing inspiration from the iconic intro of the show: „You are now entering the Pony Zone. Reconsider everything you know about sound, picture, and mind… as the Binghamton Rumble Ponies transform into the Binghamton Creatures.“

The Creatures will make their way onto the field on June 14.
