The Double-A Reading Fightin Phils will hold their 21st annual Morning Game sporting a temporary brand that pays tribute to a regional delicacy. The Fightins will be donning Cream Chipped Beef uniforms, reminiscent of the red checkered tablecloths found in a gourmet store in Pennsylvania.
Cream Chipped Beef—more commonly referred to as „Creme Chipped Beef“ and also referred to as „Cream Chip Beef“ in a team press release—has its roots in military recipe books dating back over a century. It consists of dried, pressed beef in a white sauce on toast.
Traditionally, the gates for the annual Morning Game open at 9:00 am on July 30th, where fans are greeted with a „Brunch-Nonalcoholic Fest,“ a not uncommon pairing with cream chipped beef. The first pitch will be thrown at 11:00 am against the Hartford Yard Goats.
