The Memphis Grizzlies, of the NBA, pay tribute to the concrete courts that local basketball players call home with their new City Edition Court.

The Grizzlies unveiled the new court on Thursday, February 8, at the FedEx Forum, when they played host to the Chicago Bulls. The court’s speckled gray surface, nicknamed „The City’s Park,“ is „inspired by the concrete court surfaces that Memphis basketball players and kids call home,“ according to the team’s website. „It embodies the basketball soul of our city, our joy of the game, and the core of our franchise.“

A black-and-gold version of the Grizzlies‘ bear head logo is placed at center court; this version of the logo is also featured on the black shorts of the 2024 City Edition uniforms. The court lines are white, and the team’s stylized „MEM“ pattern runs along the sideline opposite the TV cameras. „MEMPHIS“ is written in black letters with gold inlines along the left baseline, while „GRIZZLIES“ appears in the same font along the right baseline.

Here’s a look at the court:

The Grizzlies will use the new court six more times until the end of the regular NBA season 2023/24:

  • Friday, February 23 against the Los Angeles Clippers
  • Friday, March 8 against the Atlanta Hawks
  • Saturday, March 16 against the Oklahoma City Thunder
  • Wednesday, March 27 against the Los Angeles Lakers
  • Friday, April 12 against the Los Angeles Lakers
  • Sunday, April 14 against the Denver Nuggets
