In the 2024 NBA Finals, the Boston Celtics will face off against the Dallas Mavericks. The Celtics aim to win their 18th NBA title of all time and reclaim the franchise with the most NBA titles (currently tied with the Lakers); the Celtics last won in 2008, their only title in the last 38 years. The Mavs, a much younger franchise compared to the Celtics, are making their third appearance in the NBA Finals after winning it all in 2011.

The NBA Lockervision website has released the uniform schedule for the first four games of the 2024 NBA Finals. Let’s take a look:

The first two games of the series will be held in Boston, with the Celtics opting for their classic white jerseys in the first game, while Dallas will counter with their City Edition set. In the second game, the Celtics will switch it up and wear their black „Statement“ jerseys against the white „Association“ jerseys of the Mavs.

When the series shifts to Dallas, the Celtics will continue to wear their white „Association“ uniforms, while Dallas will sport their navy blue „Statement“ uniforms for the third and fourth games.

Although the matchups for games 5, 6, and 7 were not revealed on the Lockervision site, the Mavericks voluntarily disclosed their wardrobe choices for these three games:

We will see the white „Association“ uniforms in Game 5 (Boston will likely wear their green „Icon“ uniforms for this game). Dallas will don their „City Edition“ set for Games 6 and 7, indicating that Boston may revert back to their white Association set.

The Mavericks‘ uniform schedule suggests that they can only clinch the title if they win in a „traditional“ team uniform for five games. In a sweep, they win in their alternate „Statement“ set; in a win in six or seven games, they secure the title in their one-year-only „City Edition“ uniform.

Boston is trickier to analyze as we only know for sure what they will wear for a decisive game when sweeping Dallas – that would be their white „Association“ set. If we know Dallas‘ uniforms for games 6 and 7, we could potentially see the Celtics in their white jerseys if they win those games; the only real question mark is whether we would see Boston in their green or black jerseys if they win in 5.

In the 2023-24 regular season, the Boston Celtics had a 22-6 record in white jerseys and a 3-1 record in the 2024 NBA Playoffs. In black jerseys, they had a 13-3 record in the regular season and a 5-0 record in the playoffs.

Dallas achieved a 7-7 record in the regular season and a 3-0 record in the playoffs while wearing the black „City Edition“ uniforms. In white, they had a 17-13 record during the season and a 4-1 record in the playoffs. Finally, in their navy blue „Statement“ set, they had a 20-7 record in the regular season and a less impressive 5-5 record in the playoffs.
