Erster Blick auf die Logos der World Series 2024 und der MLB-Nachsaison – SportsLogos.Net News

Although it may only be early May, we’re already looking ahead to October with the release of Major League Baseball’s postseason logos for 2024.

Let’s start by taking a look at the overall package:

2024 MLB Postseason Logos
2024 MLB Postseason Logos

While they may feel quite similar to last season, there are some differences. The main font is almost identical to 2023, but the 2024 version is much thicker with some slanting. The logos this year are all centered, not left-aligned, and there’s a new font for the year that leans more towards a jersey-style font.

Compare the 2024 Postseason logo with the MLB Postseason logos from the 2020s:

There’s definitely a lot of horizontal gold and blue lines up there, except for 2021, the outlier… moving on.

Here is the World Series 2024 logo:

World Series 2024 Logo
World Series 2024 Logo

The World Series 2024 logo highlights the Commissioner’s Trophy (as it should) and rightfully elevates it above the rest of the postseason rounds. The blue and gold color scheme with a series of horizontal gold lines follows a theme we’ve seen in the World Series logos in four of the last five years; perhaps there’s now a template-but-not-quite-a-template system in place? That’s what all the cool kids are doing these days.

By comparing it to the last 25 World Series logos, you can see how over the years, a semi-standardized logo has slowly evolved, with horizontal lines introduced in 2014, the trophy in 2015, and blue and gold in 2017. Mix them all together, and you get what we have here in 2023 and 2024.

The World Series 2024 logo is undeniably an evolution from 2023, and if we’re moving towards a style where the same logo is used every year, the 2024 version isn’t bad… However, I would like to see it on or in a container (maybe a diamond?), something more reminiscent of the 2015 World Series logo, but with the blue-gold color scheme of recent years. Last year, we saw a diamond behind the World Series logo on the jersey patch, worn by both the Texas Rangers and the Arizona Diamondbacks; maybe we’ll see that again in 2024.

In 2023, a diamond was added to the World Series logo on the jersey patches

Back to this year’s logos: If we look at the earlier rounds, we see they’ve added something new that I really like:

2024 ALCS-, NLCS-, ALDS- and NLDS-Logos

The ALCS and NLCS logos integrate the league championship trophies! And why not? They are championship series, after all… it’s in the name (yes, that’s what the „CS“ in „LCS“ stands for, kids!).

The LCS Logos 2024 feature the AL and NL championship trophies

We’ve also seen a color correction from previous years. In 2022 and 2023, the Wild Card rounds were gold, LDS rounds were silver, and LCS rounds were gold. I had the idea; the color became more prestigious as the round progressed, but why was the Wild Card gold? Bronze might have made more sense. In 2024, this was somewhat rectified. The Wild Card round is not bronze, but also not gold—it has been changed to silver, matching the LDS.

Now that we’ve seen the logos for the 2024 postseason, all that’s left to do is enjoy five months of regular season baseball.
