Zitrus-Bergamia Risso (Bergamot) is a native plant from the Calabria region in Italy. Essential bergamot oil (BEO) is known for its antibacterial properties and has shown potential anticancer effects in vitro studies. Bergamot juice, derived from citrus fruit flesh residues, is considered waste in the essence industry, but has attracted scientific interest as a novel source of several bioactive chemicals. Bergamot juice contains numerous flavonoids with biological effects, along with high concentrations of organic acids, minerals, vitamins, proteins, carbohydrates, pectin, phosphates, and fiber.
