Ric Flair is set to be the subject of a new biopic being developed at Dwayne „The Rock“ Johnson’s new studio. According to a report from TheWrap, Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia will produce the film alongside „Fighting With My Family“ producer Kevin Misher.

„As a kid growing up in the professional wrestling business, I idolized ‚The Nature Boy‘ Ric Flair,“ said Johnson in a statement to TheWrap. „He was a hero to me. And when I stepped into the wrestling business and started getting my hands dirty, my reverence for Ric turned into respect. Because I realized how rare and incredibly tough it is to disrupt and truly change the wrestling game – and that’s exactly what Ric Flair did. This project is personal and we can’t wait to tell his incredible story. As always, thanks for the house, Ric.“

Flair, with a career spanning over 50 years, is one of the most iconic figures in wrestling. The flamboyant persona „Nature Boy“ dominated storylines in the 1970s and 1980s – a career that was nearly cut short by a plane crash in 1978. Flair also participated in a match in North Korea in 1995, drawing the largest audience in the history of professional wrestling.

Flair also has an extremely complicated history. He was involved in the „Plane Ride from Hell“ in 2002, where Flair was accused of forcing a flight attendant to touch his exposed penis. The flight attendant later sued the WWE over the incident, which was settled out of court. Flair also struggled with significant financial difficulties and at one point pawned his NWA World Heavyweight Championship belt as collateral for a loan.
