After 18 weeks of intense NFL action, we have made it to Wild Card weekend and the first round of the playoffs. During the regular season, we often hear the term „must-win games,“ but once a team makes it into January, every game is truly a scenario that must be won. Just like any other week, there’s always the chance for the underdog to emerge and surprise the world. That means some teams will be on high alert this weekend.
Rams at Lions
This game could be the most exciting as it has the potential to turn into a shootout. Lions head coach Dan Campbell proved last year that he could lead the team to a season with nine wins. This season, they won 12 games, secured a division title, and will host their first playoff game at Ford Field.
Despite the sudden fanfare in Detroit, the Rams coming into town should be cause for concern. LA has been on fire, winning seven of their last eight games since Week 10. However, with a young team like the Lions, there’s potential for an upset. It’s crazy to imagine the Lions as the upset team, but given their season, a loss in the first round could be nothing short of that. The trio of Matthew Stafford, Puka Nacua, and Cooper Kupp should not be underestimated, and Aaron Donald in the defensive line adds to the challenge.
Steelers at Bills
The Bills finished at the top of the table at the end of the 2023 regular season, but that doesn’t mean their match against the Steelers is a sure win. Pittsburgh managed to win ten games with three different quarterbacks this year, proving their resilience. Buffalo has had some surprising losses to „lesser“ teams this season, so they shouldn’t take this game lightly. If Pittsburgh can keep the score low, we could see the biggest upset of the weekend.
Packers at Cowboys
Despite Dallas’s strong performance in most competitions, they have had some embarrassing losses this season. Jordan Love and the Packers have shown impressive growth, winning six of their last eight games after a slow start. Love’s performance as a first-year starter has been outstanding, and this game could turn into a shootout. Dallas needs to bring their A-game on Sunday or risk another early exit from the playoffs.
