Coco Gauff’s cried after losing in the fourth round against Jeļena Ostapenko at the Australian Open 2023. A year later, she was on the brink of an early exit at the first Grand Slam tournament of the year. Eventually, after two and a half hours, she got her game back on track and ran away with the match on her way to her first Aussie Open semi-final. Gauff is the first female teenager to reach consecutive Grand Slam semi-finals in over 15 years.
In her quarterfinal victory, she made 51 unforced errors, but luckily her opponent made 56 points. It was not a flawless display, and the second set looked bleak for the 19-year-old American. However, she managed to turn it around and secured her spot in the semifinals with an impressive performance.
