When the Atlanta Gladiators of the ECHL paid tribute to their city’s former National Hockey League franchise over the weekend, it was a hit – perhaps even too much of a hit on Twitter.

The Gladiators hosted „Thrashers Night“ on Saturday, March 2nd, selling out the Gas South Arena with nearly 10,000 fans attending their game against the Greenville Swamp Rabbits.

For this event, the Gladiators donned an authentic reproduction of the infamous NHL Atlanta Thrashers jerseys worn from 2003 to 2011. The baby blue base featured the Thrashers logo on the front and a navy blue stripe along the left arm, with „ATLANTA“ in gold running vertically down the arm.

The right arm had no stripes and featured a white sleeve number with gold outlining. There was an Atlanta Gladiators logo on the right shoulder. A navy blue stripe with white and red accents and gold angles ran along the waist, while the lace-up collar was also navy blue.

The jerseys were paired with dark blue helmets, pants, and gloves with gold accents. The socks were light blue with dark blue stripes bordered in white and red.

However, for Twitter users, the jerseys may have been a bit too authentic. After uploading new profile and header photos to promote Thrashers Night, the Gladiators‘ Twitter account was suspended, presumably for identity theft. As of Monday morning, the account had not been restored.

Unfortunately, the Gladiators were unable to elevate their game in the Thrashers jerseys, losing 0-4 to the Swamp Rabbits on Saturday.
