Cristiano Ronaldo’s match against a rival appears to have driven him off course.

The Al Nassr forward was seen on social media apparently taking a blue and white Al-Hilal scarf, tucking it into his shorts, and then throwing it back into the crowd.

Fans threw merchandise at Ronaldo as he walked through the tunnel after his team’s 0-2 defeat. Throughout the game, Al Hilal fans chanted Lionel Messi’s name every time Ronaldo touched the ball.

At this time, Ronaldo has not publicly commented on his actions.

Ronaldo, who turned 39 this week, leads the Saudi Pro League with 20 goals. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner left Manchester United in December 2022 to join Al Nassr, where he is under contract until 2025 and earns $75 million per year.

The match against Al Hilal was Ronaldo’s first since December 30th, after which he suffered a calf injury in January, causing the team to postpone their preseason tour in China. Ronaldo also missed his team’s 6-0 win against Messi’s Inter Miami. He played the full 90 minutes in the Riyadh Season Cup exhibition, where both goals were scored by Al Hilal players Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Salem Al-Dawsari.

Al Nassr is currently second in the Pro League standings (15-3-1), seven points behind Al Hilal (17-2-0).
