Xavier Babudar, better known under his Chiefs superfan pseudonym „ChiefsAholic“ of the Kansas City Chiefs, pleaded guilty to a case of bank robbery, money laundering, and transporting stolen property across state lines on Wednesday.

Babudar, who turned himself in to authorities back in July after being on the run for months, was indicted by a federal grand jury in August on 19 charges. According to the US Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Missouri, as reported by Sports Illustrated, Babudar was linked to „a series of eleven bank robberies or attempted bank robberies at financial institutions in seven states.“

Babudar reached a plea deal admitting to the bank robberies and attempted bank robberies – two of which occurred after he cut off an ankle monitor in March 2023. Reports suggest he wore the wolf costume during the commission of the crimes.

„His violent crime spree across the Midwest and beyond traumatized bank employees and terrorized financial institutions in seven states,“ said US Attorney Tessa Moore in a statement, as reported by Sports Illustrated. „With today’s conviction, he is being held accountable for the full extent of his criminal behavior, including his attempt to evade justice.“

ChiefsAholic must pay over $500,000 in restitution and forfeit property. According to the prosecution, Babudar must surrender a signed painting of Patrick Mahomes as part of the forfeiture.

After being released on bail following his bank robbery at the Tulsa Teachers Credit Union on December 16, 2022, Babudar was ordered to wear a GPS monitoring device upon his release from jail. However, after failing to appear for a pretrial hearing on March 27, 2023, the device was reportedly found in a wooded area near an Academy Sports + Outdoors store in southern Tulsa.
