In Alberta, there may still be snow, but the Calgary-based Canadian Premier League club, Cavalry FC, is ready to start the new season with new jerseys.

On Monday, February 12, the club unveiled its new primary and away kits produced by Macron, making them the first CanPL team to hit the market for the 2024 season. While the league schedule doesn’t begin until April, Cavalry is set to play a home-and-away series against the Major League Soccer’s Orlando City SC in the Concacaf Champions Cup on February 21 and 27.

As throughout the history of Cavalry FC, the primary kit is predominantly red, with green and white accents on the collar and sleeve cuffs. A color-coordinated geometric pattern featured on the front of the shirt is „inspired by the dynamic technology industry in Alberta,“ according to the club’s website. White triangles run from the bottom of the jersey upward, a „subtle nod“ to the sash worn by Cavalry FC on previous home jerseys.

Meanwhile, Cavalry’s away kit is primarily green, featuring color-coordinated stars on the top half and a Northern Lights pattern dominating the lower half of the jersey. The sleeve cuffs and collar are black with green and red trim, and the club crest and sponsor logos are in white.

The lower back of the jersey features the constellation Pegasus, „a nod to our home stadium Spruce Meadows,“ the equestrian complex in the southwest of Calgary where Cavalry FC plays.

The only other CanPL team in the Concacaf Champions Cup is the Hamilton-based Forge FC, who won the North Star Cup in 2023 with a 2-1 victory over Cavalry FC in November 2023. Forge FC lost 3-1 to Liga MX club CD Guadalajara in the first leg on February 7; the second leg is scheduled for Tuesday, February 13.
