Caitlin Clark from Iowa has officially declared for the WNBA Draft today, forfeiting her last year of eligibility as confirmed in a post on her social media account.

„Although this season is far from over and we still have many more goals to achieve, it will be my last in Iowa,“ wrote Clark in her post. „It is impossible to fully thank everyone who has supported me during my time in Iowa – my teammates who have made the past four years the best; my coaches, trainers, and staff who have always allowed me to be myself; Hawkeye fans who filled Carver every night; and everyone who supported us across the country, especially the little kids.“

Clark has been one of the most dominant college basketball players in recent history. Over four years, she has accumulated numerous awards and titles, breaking countless records. Most recently, she surpassed Kelsey Plum for the most points in NCAA Division I women’s basketball history (3,527 total points) and Lynette Woodwards total points record for major college women’s basketball (3,649). Clark is currently 17 points away from Pete Maravich’s record for most points on the NCAA DI level, regardless of gender, with one regular season game left.

In addition to her scoring prowess, Clark was named the Naismith Women’s College Player of the Year 2023, recipient of the John R. Wooden Award, and won the ESPY for Best Female College Athlete.

Iowa is currently ranked second in the Big 10 and aims to secure a spot in the March Madness tournament, where Clark still has some hardware to collect. She came closest to a national championship last season when the Hawkeyes lost in the final to LSU.

The WNBA Draft is set for April 15, and many believe Clark will be the first overall pick, destined for the Indiana Fever.
