The Burlington Sock Puppets, who have been playing in the College Summer League Appalachian League since 2021, have introduced a second team that will play in the Old North State League, the Burlington Sock Pups. This announcement comes a week after the Danville Otterbots took a similar step and launched the Danville Dairy Daddies to great acclaim on social media.

„Adding an additional 13 home games to our 24 home games in the Appalachian League is a big win for our community and our fans,“ team owner Ryan Keur said on the team’s website.

Unlike the relationship between the Dairy Daddies and the Otterbots, the Sock Pups brand is heavily based on the identity of the Sock Puppets. The logo features a character created by Dan Simon of Studio Simon, who also created the original Sock Puppets branding, which has been updated by the team with a roundel and other marks.

The Sock Pups will make their debut on May 24th.
