After Brexit: Green 10 call for a new EU course towards sustainability

Brussels, 30thAugust 2016

Ahead of an informal EU summit in Bratislava Green 10 sent an Open Letter to President Tusk, President Juncker, President Schulz and Prime Minister Fico on post Brexit development. After the UK referendum vote, the EU now needs to embark on an agenda of transformational change. A change that puts the health and interest of people and planet first in everything it does, guided by the global 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Paris climate deal. NFI supports the requiry for a new course towards sustainability.

Ein schwerer Schlag für diese Regionen, in denen der Tourismus ein wichtiges wirtschaftliches Standbein ist. Doch darf und soll man überhaupt dort Urlaub machen, wo andere Menschen um ihre Existenz kämpfen?

Under the leadership of ÖKOBÜRO, Naturefriends International, GLOBAL 2000, Greenpeace, FOUR PAWS and WWF presented a common position paper on how to advance the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The NGOs agreed on the fact that in the future, voluntary commitments regarding sustainability will no longer be enough to face the ecological, social and economic challenges of our time.

Erster österreichischer Reiseveranstalter Mitglied im „Roundtable Human Rights in Tourism“

Als erster Reiseveranstalter in Österreich unterzeichnete gestern Kneissl Touristik das Commitment für den Beitritt zum „Roundtable Menschenrechte im Tourismus“ und bekennt sich damit zu seiner Verantwortung für die menschenrechtliche Sorgfalt.

The tourism industry is pleased, but such growth has an enormous ecological impact on our planet; especially air traffic contributes greatly to climate change. Naturefriends International demands that all parties involved act responsibly: tourism industry, political decision-makers and travellers.
