Naturefriends, a vivid, international and well-connected movement, constantly contributes to contemporary NGO-work with its social as well as ecological activities. At the same time Naturefriends can look back on a long tradition and history, almost unique compared to other organisations. Founded in Vienna in March 1895, this movement evolved into an international organisation in the early years of the 20th century.
With the new series “Naturefriends' Storytime – 100 years ago at Naturefriends” we want to transport some of this early spirit and commitment into the present. Therefore we will publish selected articles from the “Naturefriend”, long-time key medium of the Naturefriends movement, online every month. These stories are touching, exciting and informative all at once. In spite of their age, they show a great deal of similarities to topics of interest and fields of activity that remained relevant over time.
As the “Naturefriend” was published in German, unfortunately these stories will only be available in German language. In the upcoming months however we will seek to publish historical articles in other languages as well!
Just in time for the holiday season, the first story is about the topics holiday and photography:
„Photographie und Touristik“, von Alfred Feichtinger (Der Naturfreund, 17. Edition 1913, page 287).
