Green 10 demand a more ambitious EU Climate Policy
Image

In the run-up to the EU summit on 17 June 2010, the Green 10 addressed an open letter to Herman van Rompuy, President of the European Council, to demand an increase in Europe's climate ambition. They point out the economic benefits that could be gained by upgrading the EU's climate target to cut CO2 emission by 20% until 2020.

Representing Europe's leading environmental organisations, the Green 10 urge European leaders to raise the target to at least 30%, and they emphasise that the additional income created by that step could help EU countries reduce mounting budget deficits.
