OVER 250 NON-GOVERNMENT ORGANISATIONS LAUNCH ALTERNATIVE VISION FOR EUROPE

Brussels, June 20, 2017 – More than 250 non-government organisations from across Europe have today released an alternative vision for a more democratic, just and sustainable Europe. [1]

Intended to influence the debate on the future direction of Europe, this alternative vision is endorsed by organisations representing a multitude of public interest issues, including labour rights, culture, development, environment, health, women’s rights, youth, and anti-discrimination groups.

Common appeal to European leaders by European Civil Society Organisations and Trade Unions signed by 237 organisation.

As we mark the 60th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome, we have a momentous opportunity to take stock of how far Europe has come – and how far we still have to go in order to offer a sustainable and prosperous future to everyone in Europe. It is an opportunity that we call on you, the leaders of Europe, to seize with both hands. We call on you to show leadership, vision and courage to set Europe on the path to a sustainable future which realises the rights of all people and respects planetary boundaries.

Too many people across Europe are dissatisfied and disillusioned with the European Union and feel remote from its institutions and policies. But there are groups of committed politicians, trade unions, community groups and non-governmental organisations across Europe who are ready to take action and work for a renewed Europe.

Nach Brexit: Green 10 fordern neuen Kurs der EU in Richtung Nachhaltigkeit ein

Nach dem britischen Referendum und im Vorfeld des informellen EU-Gipfels in Bratislava fordern die Green 10 die Präsidenten Tusk, Juncker und Schulz sowie Premierminister Fico in einem Offenen Brief auf, einen neuen Kurs einzuschlagen. Die NFI unterstützt die gemeinsame Forderung, sich an den Leitlinien der Agenda 2030 sowie dem Pariser Klimaabkommen zu orientieren und die Interessen der Menschen und unseres Planeten in den Mittelpunkt zu stellen.
